What’s One Life You Believed About Yourself?
Have you ever believed something about yourself that wasn’t true… but it shaped everything?
Maybe it was a whisper in your heart from childhood. Maybe it was from rejection, divorce, trauma or some other pain in life. Maybe it came from a broken relationship with a friend or co-worker or a moment of failure. Or maybe it was wrapped in religion, dressed up as “humility,” but it actually kept you small and afraid.
Lies have a way of burrowing deep into our identity—and if we’re not careful, they can become the lens through which we see ourselves, others, and even God.
The Lies We Carry
So many women I coach carry quiet, hidden beliefs like:
- “I’m not enough.”
- “If I don’t perform, I’m not lovable.”
- “God will bless others, but not me.”
- “My voice doesn’t matter.”
- “I’ll always be the outsider.”
- “I’m not gifted enough to do that. It’s for other people.”
At first, we may not even realize they’re lies. But I am here to tell you they are LIES! They’ve been with us so long, they feel like truth.
But over time, these false beliefs steal joy, sabotage relationships, and create spiritual exhaustion and more pain. They cause women to shut down, feel less than and some of you go into dark season of sin and destruction where you look out and see the life you want but you cannot live it. NO MATTER HOW hard you try.
We keep striving, performing, people-pleasing, or hiding—hoping something will finally make us feel worthy. We then feel bad about God and believe lies about Him from the enemy. We stay stuck in this pattern for a long time living as the orphan hearted women. (More on that next week on the podcast and blog)
But God…
Here’s the good news: God never designed you to live buried under false labels.
He calls you daughter. Redeemed. Chosen. Loved. Free.
In Romans 8:15, Paul reminds us–
“You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”
That means we no longer have to live as orphans—unsure of our place, identity, or value. We’ve been adopted. Brought near. Given a name. What is your real name? (More on that later too)
My Story (And Yours)
I used to believe that God loved everyone but me. That He saw me but was a bad neighbor and if I needed help He would not help me even though he can see me needing the help. Crazy! I also believed that all the people that say they love you, leave my life.
But the Holy Spirit gently dismantled those lies—and He’s still doing that work.
That’s why I created Beyond the Pew—a coaching program and group coaching community for Christian women who are tired of pain of orphan heart, hiding, not knowing was true love is and who are ready to live their lives rooted in truth.
